Solar Development Engineer
Location: Headquarter office (Old Saybrook, CT) preferred, remote work considered
TELYON is seeking a Solar Development Engineer to assist with initial investigations and due diligence of potential commercial solar opportunities. This position will report to the EPC Director and will work closely with the business development and engineering teams to confirm feasibility, identify system parameters, and determine cost.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create conceptual design layouts and electrical diagrams for commercial scale solar arrays utilizing software such as Helioscope, AutoCAD, and PVsyst
- Develop preliminary design drawing packages for commercial rooftop and ground mount installations that conform to building code and off-taker requirements
- Identify site restrictions using GIS to incorporate them into layouts
- Determine accurate energy production estimates for potential projects
- Define PV system characteristics to guide business development and procurement selections that maximize value
- Perform site visits for project assessment for feasibility, site conditions, and facility infrastructure
- Identify electrical architecture (i.e., building switchgear, utility distribution tie-in) of potential project sites
- Review Request for Proposal (RFP) documents (i.e. building drawings, site plans)
- Identify and qualify engineering/design consultants for various future commercial solar installations
- Maintain a general knowledge of design issues related to relevant building codes
- Support utility interconnection and permitting application processes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- At least two years of progressively responsible Solar PV design experience
- Familiarity with construction drawing standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, Excel, and Procore
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code and other applicable state and local codes
