Executive Director of Mergers and Acquisitions
Remote within the Northeast (preferably NYC or Boston)
The Executive Director of Mergers & Acquisitions will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and executing strategic acquisition opportunities that align with Telyon's long-term growth objectives. This individual will play a key role in expanding the company's geographic footprint, service offerings, project pipeline, and overall enterprise value. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial solar, renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy-related transactions and have a demonstrated track record of successfully leading complex M&A transactions from origination through integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute Telyon's M&A strategy to support company growth objectives.
- Identify, source, and cultivate relationships with acquisition targets, developers, EPCs, asset owners, and strategic partners.
- Lead financial, operational, technical, legal, and commercial due diligence efforts.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of acquisition and investment opportunities.
- Prepare investment memorandums, financial models, valuation analyses, and executive presentations.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate acquisition opportunities, project portfolios, strategic investments, and joint ventures, including valuation analysis, return projections, sensitivity analysis, and transaction structuring to support executive decision-making and capital allocation.
- Structure and negotiate Letters of Intent (LOIs), purchase agreements, and transaction terms.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, lenders, investors, and consultants throughout the transaction process.
- Lead post-acquisition integration planning and execution.
- Monitor renewable energy market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 6-10 years of experience in mergers & acquisitions, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, project finance, or strategic transactions.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within the commercial solar, renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or distributed generation industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading acquisitions from sourcing through closing.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and transaction structuring skills.
- Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Deep understanding of commercial solar development, EPC operations, project ownership structures, and energy markets.
- Exceptional executive-level communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and to commute into the HQ office in Old Saybrook, CT a few times a month.
- Located in the Northeast United States with ability to travel as needed.
PREFFERED:
- Experience with solar EPC acquisitions, renewable energy platform roll-ups, or strategic corporate development initiatives.
- Existing network within the commercial solar and renewable energy sectors.
- MBA, JD, CPA, CFA, or equivalent advanced professional credential.
- Experience working with private equity-backed organizations.
