Finance & Operations Associate
Full-time, in-office at TELYON’s HQ in Old Saybrook, CT
TELYON is seeking a Finance & Operations Associate to join its team at our headquarters in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. This position will play a key role across the financial, operational, and compliance functions of TELYON’s growing commercial and industrial solar business, working closely with Finance, Operations, Construction, Procurement, Project Management, Legal, and other internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have 1–5+ years of experience within the construction industry, with experience spanning project financials, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, project controls, procurement, inventory management, and/or construction compliance. Experience within C&I solar, renewable energy, or an EPC environment is strongly preferred.
This is a highly cross-functional role for someone who can combine strong financial and analytical skills with an understanding of construction operations and project-level compliance requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support company and project-level budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, including budget-to-actual analysis, variance analysis, and project-level financial performance.
- Develop and maintain cash flow projections based on project schedules, procurement commitments, anticipated expenditures, customer payments, and other business needs.
- Provide financial and operational analytics across active projects, backlog, and pipeline to support management decision-making and provide visibility into project performance and future cash requirements.
- Track project costs, commitments, invoices, purchase orders, and other key financial information to ensure accurate and timely project reporting.
- Support cash management, including monitoring project expenditures, payment timing, collections, liquidity needs, and future cash requirements.
- Own the tracking and management of equipment inventory, including purchases, inventory balances, equipment location, deliveries, project allocations, transfers, and associated costs.
- Work closely with Procurement and Project Management to track and reconcile procurement commitments, purchase orders, equipment deliveries, inventory, and project allocations, ensuring financial and operational records remain accurate.
- Manage prevailing wage and apprenticeship compliance, including tracking applicable requirements, certified payroll and wage documentation, apprenticeship participation, subcontractor documentation, and other supporting records.
- Support and manage key aspects of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) compliance applicable to TELYON’s projects, including maintaining required documentation and coordinating across internal teams and external partners.
- Manage safe harbor tracking and documentation for solar equipment and projects, including procurement commitments, payments, equipment identification, inventory, allocation, delivery, and other records necessary to properly substantiate safe harbor positions.
- Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready compliance documentation across projects.
- Work cross-functionally with Construction, Procurement, Project Management, Finance, and Legal to identify and resolve financial, operational, procurement, inventory, and compliance issues.
- Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, trackers, and other tools related to project performance, cash flow, pipeline, procurement, inventory, and compliance.
- Identify project cost trends, financial and compliance risks, documentation gaps, and opportunities to improve project margins and operational efficiency.
- Assist with the continued development and improvement of internal processes, financial controls, compliance procedures, reporting, and documentation as the company continues to grow.
- Support additional financial, operational, and compliance initiatives based on the needs and growth of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- 1–5+ years of experience within the construction industry required.
- C&I solar, renewable energy, or EPC experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, project controls, construction accounting, or financial analysis.
- Experience with procurement and inventory management, including purchase orders, equipment tracking, deliveries, project allocations, and reconciliation.
- Understanding of construction project lifecycles, project costs, procurement, subcontractors, billing, and scheduling.
- Experience with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements and associated documentation strongly preferred.
- Experience or familiarity with the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), renewable energy compliance requirements, and/or tax credit-related project requirements preferred.
- Experience with safe harbor tracking, procurement documentation, inventory records, and/or beginning-of-construction documentation is strongly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills, with the ability to organize and analyze significant amounts of project and operational data.
- Experience with ERP, accounting, construction management, inventory, procurement, or project management systems preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to understand complex financial, operational, and compliance requirements and translate them into organized, practical processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across Finance, Construction, Procurement, Project Management, Legal, and senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
- Must be able to work full-time, in-office at TELYON’s Old Saybrook, CT headquarters.
