Senior Staff Accountant

Headquarter office (Old Saybrook, CT)

Telyon is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support our growing commercial and industrial (C&I) solar business. This role plays a key part in our monthly accounting close, financial reporting, and operational accounting processes. The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financials, maintain strong internal controls, and provide insights that help drive business decisions. This role also assists with core accounting functions including A/R, A/P, G/L, and inventory tracking. This is a hands-on role that requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform monthly financial close activities for multiple entities, includingpreparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and variance analysis in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, intercompany transactions, accrued/deferred revenue, and assets in development.
  • Review and monitor cash activity, including receipts, disbursements, and bank/credit card reconciliations.
  • Support A/R, A/P, general ledger functions, and inventory tracking as needed.
  • Analyze revenue and expense trends, preparing insights and recommendations to support leadership decision-making.
  • Assist with budgeting, cash-flow projections, and financial planning schedules.
  • Support job/project costing, evaluate cost drivers, and recommend opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiency.
  • Prepare sales/use tax and property tax filings while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and monitoring internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within accounting workflows and help implement new tools and efficiencies.
